TreeTwin™ is operated by Future Version Limited. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data in an open and transparent manner.

1. Information We Collect

When you twin a tree on TreeTwin, we collect:

• Display name: The name you choose to be shown publicly on the map
• Tree location: GPS coordinates (latitude and longitude) of the tree you're twinning
• Tree name: The name or type of tree (optional, set by the first person to twin a tree at that location)
• Tree photo: An optional image you upload of the tree
• Planting preferences: Your chosen location for where real trees will be planted (e.g., UK, Australia, Brazil)

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Display your twinned tree on our public interactive map
• Generate your digital certificate
• Facilitate tree planting through our partner Ecologi
• Improve and maintain the TreeTwin platform

3. Payment Information

TreeTwin uses Stripe for secure payment processing. We do not store your credit card details, billing address, or any payment information on our servers. All payment data is handled directly by Stripe in accordance with their Privacy Policy.

We only store a Stripe session ID reference to link your payment to your twinning.

4. Third-Party Services

We share necessary information with the following trusted partners:

• Stripe: Payment processing
• Ecologi: Tree planting fulfillment (we share the number and location of trees to be planted, but not your personal details)

5. Public Information

Please note that the following information is displayed publicly on our map:

• Your chosen display name
• Tree location coordinates
• Tree name
• Your uploaded tree photo (if provided)

Do not include sensitive personal information in your display name or tree name.

6. Data Retention

We retain your twinning data indefinitely to maintain the integrity of our global tree map and honor your environmental contribution. Payment session data expires after 1 hour.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Request access to your personal data
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data (subject to our legitimate need to maintain the tree map's integrity)
• Withdraw consent at any time

8. Cookies

TreeTwin uses minimal browser storage:

• localStorage: Saves your map position and zoom level, map layer preference (street/satellite view), and splash screen display preference

We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies.

9. Children's Privacy

TreeTwin does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The service is intended for general audiences.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect when changes were made.
